Decapitation

Decapitation, or beheading, is a way of execution where the head is parted from the body.
It is one of the oldest execution methods, and the person died instantly. Usually they use an axe or a sword, later on they invested better and easier execution methods, such as the guillotine.

When a person loses its head, the brain will not receive the oxygen it needs, and the person will therefore faint and short after die.

If the execution is not done in the right way, the person will have a very painfull death, so it is important that the man who is in charge of the execution is experienced.

The last person that was executed by decapitation in Norway, was Kristoffer Nilsen Svartbækken Grindalen, 21. february, 1876.

Some animals such as cockroaches can survive decapition, and die, not because of it, but because of starvation.

Queen of Feminism

Queen Elizabeth was crowned the Queen of England in 1533. She was proposed to several times, but she turned down all of the purposes. She remained unmarried for the rest of her life. What Elizabeth I did - or did not do was unusual at her time. Most women, no, let's call them with their right name - girls, married at the age of 11 or 12, while Elizabeth stayed independent for her whole life. Even though she was not a man nor a wife to a king, she knew how to rule.
Throughout the time she ruled England, 1558-1603, she managed great things, among others: defeating the Spainsh Armanda. Though, we asume she is more famous for starting the British Empire. Just listen to those words: British Empire. You can nearly hear the power of the meaning. It is amazing what she have done, and what is more amazing is that she was a woman.

Queen Elizabeth is a huge inspiration to all feminsts all over the world. Women at her time did not have any good position, but she put herself in a higher position and were therefore not ruled by any men. As we stated earlier, she did not have a husband, and that increases her power as an icon for independent women.

The funny thing is that she viewed the female as the weak gender, but she taught of herself as a King, a male King, inside of a female body, and who could possibly be a better inspirational source and true role model for young girls, than the Queen herself?

"The sun never sets on the British Empire"

"The sun never sets on the British Empire" was orginally written by John Wilson, under the pseudonym Christopher North. At first it was written "His Majesty's dominions, on which the sun never sets," but was changed to the more remerable phrase which is the one in the title. The phrase usually refers to the British Empire at its biggest, and it means that the when the Earth turns around and the sun shines on different parts of the world, it is always shining on some parts of the British Empire.

Norwegian history: World War II

Norway was occupied by Germany from 1940 to 1945. Much was destroyed during the war. Buildings, factories and entire towns were bombed and burnt to the ground. Most goods were in short supply and many people experienced a difficult time.
World War II started in September 1939 when Poland was invaded by German soldiers. German soldiers invaded Norway on 9th April 1940. There were a few short battles in several places in the country, but within a few days the Germans had gained control over Norway. The King and the government fled to London in the UK and continued their campaign of resistance from there

After the first few days of the war there was not that much military resistance in Norway. The police were controlled by the Nazis and a new, Nazi friendly government was installed in the country. This government was not democratically elected.
Many Norwegians carried out activities that were illegal during the war. Some spread uncensored information, for example newspapers and leaflets. Others helped people flee from the Nazis to other countries, mainly Sweden and the UK. Many people were arrested and sent to prison camps.
Even though the country was occupied most people could go to their ordinary job and children went to school. However, food, clothing and other goods were rationed and the future felt uncertain.
Norway had a large fleet of merchant ships before the war. During the war years, 1940-1945, many of these ships transported goods to countries that were at war with Germany. The Norwegian government in London organised this traffic. Around half of these ships were torpedoed or bombed. Almost 4,000 Norwegian sailors were killed during the war.
A total of around 10,000 Norwegian men and women died because of the war. Around 700 of these were Jews sent to concentration camps in Germany and Poland.
On 8th May 1945, Germany surrendered and Norway was once again a free country. Around 50,000 Norwegians were found guilty of treason after the war. They had been members of the Norwegian national socialist party, Nasjonal Samling, who sympathised and collaborated with the Nazis. 25 people were executed for treason after the war.

After 1945, the reconstruction of the country began. This was a very busy period. Both production and exports increased, and the merchant fleet was built up again.
Many people found work and, even though the wages were not that high, poverty declined. Most people were very optimistic and many were eager to play a part in Norway’s reconstruction. Terms such as equality and equal worth became important to the people. Norway’s economy gradually improved, even though some goods were still rationed until the late 1950s.
In the decades after the war a number of reforms were introduced that would improve the lives of everybody. Working hours got shorter , and holidays longer. In 1967, the National Insurance Act was introduced. This act was intended to ensure financial security for all citizens, including the old and the sick.

Henry VIII, the playa MAN

Henry VIII lived between 1491 and 1547. He was crowned king in 1509 when he was about 18 years old.
He is well - known for his many wives, firstly Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard and Ann Parr. Henry the VIII divorced his first wife Catherine of Aragon for Anne Boleyn because she would not sleep with him unless he was divorced and married to her. However, for him to be allowed to divorce his first wife he had to turn away ffrom the Catholic Church and appointed himself head of the Church of England. He later executed Anne Boleyn because she did not provide him with a male heir. Henry later married Jane Seymour in 1536, however she died during childbirth in 1537. He then remarried again to Anne of Cleves, however due to her upbringing she was not suited for Henry's court and Henry is said to have not found Anne of Cleves attractive and therefore divorced her in 1540. In 1540, Henry VIII married the unfaithful Catherine Howard, daughter of Lord Edmund Howard. Catherine Howard was excuted by Henry the VIII for her unfaithfulness in 1542. Henry last wife Ann Parr outlived Henry who died in 1547

There's a hole in the world..

There's a hole in the world like a great black pit
and the vermin of the world inhabit it
and its morals aren't worth what a pig could spit
and it goes by the name of Blogspot.
At the top of the hole sit the privileged few
Making mock of the vermin in the lonely zoo
turning beauty to filth and greed...
I too have blogged the web and seen its wonders,
for the cruelty of men is as wonderous as the loo.
but there's no place like Blogspot!

Love, Markus.

Henry VIII's wives' deaths

This player had six wives. Some of them died of very bizarre circumstances. Have a look at this summary:
(By Richard, Benedicte and Rebekka)

First, he married Catherine of Aragon. They got a divorce in 1533. She died of "a broken heart". LOL! She looked like this:

Wife number two was Anne Boleyn. She was beheaded for quarrelling with Henry about that she did not want to get more children (Henry wanted a son) and that she had sex with her own brother.. Henry had already moved on so quicly, that even before Anne died, he had found a new wife.. Anyway, Anne Boleyn looked like this:

Wife number three was Jane Seymour. She died a few days after childbirth. Henry was very happy, though.. Because she gave birth to a son, of course ;)

Anne of Cleves was the next wife.. She and Henry got a divorce and she died later on.

The Industrial Revolution

The Industrial Revolution, one of the most vital periods of change in Great Britain, occurred because of the stable economic, social, and political stance of the country, as well as brought lasting effects in Britain in each of these areas. With its fast growing monopoly on ocean trade, its renewed interest in scientific discovery, and its system of national banks holding tight to its financial security, Britain was, at the time of the Industrial Revolution, ripe for change. It was the great historical epoch we call the Industrial Revolution which would forever change city life, social class structure, the power of the British nation amongst others of the world, the production of machinery, and the strength of the economy of Britain. Because of the Industrial Revolution, never again would the British have to suffer the results of no changes regarding the inequalities of the working world, nor doubt the strength of their country, yet come to view the word "technology" in a completely new way.

Queen Elizabeth I (1533- 1603)

Today, 1sta got a blog. We are supposed to write something about what we learned in the English lesson. We know that its reaaaaaally boring, but here we go :)

Wierd/fun facts:
- She was nicknamed the Virgin Queen, because she was never married. ''She received many offers for her hand, but she rejected all of them for unknown reasons.'' HAHA. handjob?

- The state Virginia is named after her.

- Her father was the crazy Henry VIII and her mother was Anne Boleyn, Henrys second wife. Henry actually beheaded her. PSYCOO

- She once said in a speech: "I know I have the body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart and stomach of a King ..." LOL?

Lookin' good, huh?

Queen Elizabeth, the virgin queen.

Queen Elizabeth was the daughter of Henry the 8th and Ann Boleyn. She was born in 1533 and ruled england from 1558 to 1603 the year of her death, and was known as the virgin queen because she never married. She served as the fifth and last monarch of the tudor dynasty.

Under her rule England deafeated the Spanish armada and established itself as the nation that "ruled the waves". As a result, new countries were discovered and explored and the queen gave her subjects permission to settle in far-flung parts of the world and found colonies. These settlements were the beginnings of the British Empire.

Magna Carta !!! :D

Magna Carta is a document signed in 1215 by King John, giving the nobels greater political power. The document ensured that the King's subjects were granted protection and a just trial. Although these rights were mostly limited to the high-born, Magna Carta is widely regarded as a founding document in the history of democracy.

Why shall we not blog?

After WW1 many british soldiers suffered from "Shell Shock", called today post-traumatic stress syndrom. This meant they could no longer work as humans in the same way they could before, much less as soldiers. In the early 90's bloging became more and more common for people who suffered from this terribly wrecking disease. They felt they had to share their thoughts with the rest of the world, and as some of them had a talent for music they made a genre called Emo. This has later been connected to the lifestyle and, first early in the 90's, as bloggers. Bloggers are parasites feeding on the free principles of the internet and the modern community in an ocean of possibilities. Why shall we never blog about our lives? Because it's emo. To be emo, seen from this angle, is baaaaad. It is damaging to the human race and invades the right of privacy and the law allowing free speech. Please don't misunderstand: to be emo is not negative. To be a bloger is. Sharing your inner thoughts and experiences with the rest of the world is damaging and abusive to the structures of this well-built country, and the principles and constitution our forfathers founded as basis for us and the Norwegian people.

Please understand the hidden conspiracy we are exposed to as a attempt of revolution, and a coup. We must face this growing threat and insanity with courageous hearths and clear minds. Stand together and we shalth stand victorious!
